For Advisors
Advisors can find, join, and interact with university boards on our platform. With one-to-one and boardroom meetings, in-app messaging, and board posts, University Advisors has everything you need to get the most out of the digital boardroom.
On the login page, click “Become an Advisor”. Then select your membership plan – we provide multiple options depending on the number of boards you’d like to join. Finally, create your account login details, input your payment information, and click “Start Your Free Trial.”
Click the dropdown in the top right-hand corner of the platform, then click “Edit Profile.”
These are parts of your profile you can edit:

Upload a professional photo of yourself.
Profile Headline
A concise statement that captures your professional identity and expertise, aimed at grabbing attention and summarizing your advisory focus.
Skills
List your specific skills and competencies that are relevant to advising university boards.
Hourly Rate
Specify your fee for advisory services, reflecting your experience level and the value you bring to board discussions and decision-making processes.
Interests
Share areas you are passionate about, both professionally and personally, to give a more rounded picture of who you are and to identify potential alignment with universities' goals.
Bio
A section to elaborate on your background, highlighting your unique qualifications, achievements, and what sets you apart as an advisor.
Industries
Identify the sectors you have experience in or are interested in advising on, such as higher education, technology, finance, or non-profit, to match with university boards seeking specific industry insights.
Experience
Detail your previous advisory roles, board memberships, or relevant professional experiences, including achievements and impacts made, to establish credibility and demonstrate your capability as an advisor.
Click the dropdown in the top right-hand corner of the platform, then click “Change Password.”
By setting your available hours, you allow university board users to request meetings with you.
Click the dropdown in the top right-hand corner of the platform, then click “Change Available Hours.” Then, select the day of the week and specify your availability by choosing a start time and an end time.
Click the dropdown in the top right-hand corner of the platform, then click “Manage Subscription.” Here, you can view your invoices, upgrade your plan, and cancel your subscription.
To find your upcoming board meetings, go to the “Board Meetings” page and filter for “Upcoming Meetings.”
To find your upcoming one-to-one meetings, go to the “1:1 Meetings” page.
To accept a one-to-one meeting request, go to the “1:1 Meetings” page and click “Accept” in the “Action” column.
Go to the “Board Directory” page to find all the boards on our platform. You can search by keyword, as well as filter by the industry experience and skills the board is looking for.
Click on a board to find out more information, like advisor benefits and recent board activity. Then, select “Request to Join.”
Go to “My Boardroom”, then click on the board to find all its recent posts.
Go to “My Boardroom” and click on “Boardroom Invites Received” in the left panel. You’ll find a list of invites to join boards. Once you click on each invite, you can choose whether to accept or decline.

Click “Add Board” in the top right corner of the platform. Then enter the name of your board, write a description of your board’s activities, and click “Create.”
Click on the dropdown in the top right corner, then select “Profile & Settings.”
You can enter information about your university, as well as yourself.

On the “My Boardroom” page, find the board you’d like to schedule a meeting with. Then, click the dropdown icon and select “Schedule Meeting.”
Enter your meeting’s title, agenda, start time, duration, and description. To schedule the meeting and send the meeting invite to all the advisors on that board, click “Save.”
Click “Post” in the top right corner. Select the board you want to create a post in, select the update type, and write your post. You can also add an image or video attachment. Once you’re ready to publish, click “Post.”
Go to the “Advisors” page and click “Find Advisors.” Then, you can search by name or keyword, and filter by industry or skill. Once you’ve found an advisor you’re interested in working with, click the dropdown menu to request a one-to-one-meeting or invite them to a board. Alternatively, you can save the advisor’s profile for later by clicking the bookmark icon.
To start a conversation, go to your “Advisors” page and find the advisor you’d like to chat with – this can either be an advisor already on one of your boards or a new contact. Then, click the message icon. Your conversation with the advisor will open and you can write your first message.
To find existing conversations with advisors, select “Messages” in the main menu.
You can request meetings with advisors, whether they’re already on your board or not. Simply go to your “Advisors” page, find an advisor you’d like to connect with, and click the dropdown icon.
Select “Request Meeting” to view the advisor’s availability. Once you’ve clicked on an available time, you can enter the meeting’s title, description, duration, and agenda.
On the “My Boardroom” page, click “Boardroom Requests Received” in the left panel. You’ll find a list of requests to join your boards. Once you click on each request, you can choose whether to accept or decline.
